Family Room and Fireplace
As you can see, we had the fireplace framed in so there is a slightly backset wall above. We wanted a place to hang a picture (even though I don't think we want any special one there because of the heat. There will be a 12" deep full-lenght oak mantel with crown moulding below and a marble tile surround. It's a 1900's look that we saw in someone's house and adored. There will also be a marble tile hearth along the front.
For you techies, the cutouts in the wall that you see just above the trash can are wired for Dolby Pro-Logic 6.1 surround-sound home theatre. There are three boxes on the back wall for the three rear (L-C-R) speakers. There is also a Gigahertz Ethernet connection in one box so DIVX movies can be run from a DIVX Server that will be on the network. Also included are two RG-6 cables for Cable TV. The back wall is also filled with fiberglass batts for sound proofing. Ass the depth of the Pantry and the Layndry plus another full sound insulated wall and the hopes is that very little sound will make its way tot he bedroom.
