| This picture is looking down into the garage foundation. They are actually planning to fill in this hole when they are done. The post you see will hold up the lally column that supports the second floor. Right now it looks a little tenative, sitting off the edge of the original footer. I don't know if it is full of concrete yet, but hopefully they will form up a proper footer below the column and then put steel in it and pour the footer. Since the top really doesn't have to be smooth, it could be done without removing the box. In fact, I suspect they could finish the column, so the foundation crew could leave and then pour the footer after the forms are pulled from the column. If you look closely, you can see that the forms have been filled. |
