| The Balcony and Upstairs Hall Feb 20, 2003 |
| Here is a view of the upstairs hall looking toward the guest room and bath. The overhead light is a surface mounted version of the ones down stairs. They are an early 20th century design that could be called Late Victorian (when gas was used in cities and electricity was just coming into vogue).
The blue tape marks defects I found in the finish. In fact you can see one balluster that has no finish on the side. They plan to take care of that next week. Apparently the painting contractor wase careless in several areas. I came in one rvening and found them painting in the near-dark in some cases. Not surprising they missed some areas. Floor has been finished with two coats of Urethane. The paper is there to protect the finish. It's that "rosin" paper that is used under the wood floor and makes a good protective floor covering. Once I've closed on the house, I'll probably put it down again for the move. |
