The board shown above is being
used as the prototype for a new Parrot™ messaging unit designed to be magnetically attached to a
metal surface such as the refrigerator. The new product will be produced in thousands quantity. Significant
details include mixed leaded and Surface Mount technology,
and an area under the large integrated circuit
(not visible) that is designed for Chip On Board IC
mounting. The COB version will be used to reduce assembly cost in
the final unit. In addition, several components were double tracked, allowing through-hole or surface mount components
to be used. The board is only two layers, to ensure lowest cost. This board is
1.4 in. by 1.95 in.

layout composite for this board.
